Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (Novel) - Vol. 8 Ch. 8

Here you are ladies and gentlemen, a Haganai release to go along with the episode that aired today. It even has some Aoi in it, too. Not much else to say about the chapter, but just as an FYI it'll be finals week(s) and such for me and a bunch of people who help me out in the coming weeks, so releases may continue to be delayed for the time being. I am going to try to get Idol Pretender out sometime next week though. In any case, links below:

    1. Ah, but Sena overplayed her hand and freaked out Kodaka (and everyone else). This could end up completely killing her chances and making Yozora (or maybe even Rika) the winner.

Or it could be half-assedly resolved somehow and return everything to the status quo.

    2. These is a pretty clichéd take on harem series. The rival confesses first, sometimes the protagonist starts dating her, or more commonly, delays his answer and then the main girl finally confesses near the end and then that's that. Main girl ending. Sea's over-confidence will most likely backfire on her, in this case.

  8. So Vexed has nothing much to say despite a freaken confession? Well w/e Sena ftw, Yozora fans can hate, but fact of the matter is that one is sincere about her efforts to win Kodaka, Yozora on the other hand moves like a snake with her underhanded methods and has eyes on the back of her head instead of the front seeing as she only wants to see the past.

    1. When confronted with Yusa:
      Yozora = solid convincing arguments
      Sena = threat of expulsion
So yeah, Yozora and her underhanded methods.

      Delete
    2. That Yozora hater is still going on about that? :/

Yozora is a lot more shy than Sena when it comes to these things. It's simple as that. And that was an understatement.

      Delete
    3. One example you got on Sena, want me to list all the examples of underhanded methods and bullying that Yozora has pulled? Stfu you hypocrites.

Also shyness can also be labeled with incompetency, know why? Because all childhood friends get tagged friendzoned because they let years go by where they didn't make a move, obviously this doesn't apply to Yozora but her hesitation applies all the same. Sena knows what she wants, she runs towards it even if looking like a fool with her extremely weird personality, Yozora on the other hand? curls into a corner hoping that Kodaka will walk up to her, who is more pathetic now? Rika, Yukimura, even freaken Kate all put more work in then Yozora. Her effort and desire is pathetic.

    4. At the end of the day, whatever you've just said doesn't matter in the least. If the author makes even the protagonist's younger sister the main girl then you can bet they're going to have some kind of an ending.

That being said, I think being careful and taking your time is far better than jumping the gun and risking rejection. Sena didn't consider anyone's feelings but her own when she confessed. Not a wise move.

And finally, if you want to be taken seriously, do take care as to not litter your comments with insults. That makes you seem highly immature.

      Delete
    5. You think Yozora cares about anybodies feelings other than her own? LOLOLOLOLOLOL, name one scenario where she gave a damn about how Kodaka felt, she is as ignorant as Sena when concerning his hesitating feelings. Only Rika understands Kodaka, so don't make it seem like Yozora is some understanding girl because she isn't.

Also ya sure my opinion means jack on the story itself, but also ass pulls aren't in the authors favor if he prefers a career after this series is over. Not many people would be happy with the random plot turns that you are suggesting meaning that reasonable plot development is predictable to an extent. Reasonable is a very vague word but unless you pathetically beyond hope you would understand what it means to have "understandable" plot progression rather then the ass pulls you suggest.

I don't care to use proper speech when the recipients of these comments take it one ear and out the other. I read previous comments, also Yozora fans deny everything Sena fans say, and as result Sena fans insult Yozora, it's an annoying cycle. Adding vulgarity may be immature but your narrow minded understanding isn't much better. You couldn't be objective to save your life.

      Delete
    6. Just one thing to say,
"and as result Sena fans insult Yozora"
don't generalize. You're lumping all the other Sena fans with yourself, which would probably offend them as it does me. It's just a novel, dude. Nothing to get emotional over.

    1. The dude has finally had friendship that he wanted in so many years, give the guy a break. Use your head and think for a second. If he entered into a relationship with anyone of them what do you think would happen to the "balance" that exists in the club. It's like Rika said it's a fragile state where they all act out roles. Obviously Kodaka needs to move forward, it can't stay like this, but there is nothing wrong with the dude hesitating a little bit, since unlike Yozora he has shown indication that he will move forward. Willing to bet by volumes end that he finds his resolve, and i can guarantee that by volumes end Yozora still won't have hers.

      Delete
    2. Won't have her what? I think she's made it perfectly clear that both the past and present are important to her. Which is the way it is supposed to be.

And you're saying acting oblivious and running away like a little girl is fine? He could've given her some sort of a response at the very least. Sheesh.

      Delete
    3. You really are a second rate existence. Yozora won't have her resolve to take action by the end of this volume you moron, Kodaka on the other hand will have his resolve. Think of it this way, regardless of your pathetic subjective viewpoints lets view it objectively shall we? Kodaka for his reasoning doesn't want change, he likes the status quo, so when the scenario that he has played ignorant to maintain suddenly breaks down with a confession he didn't expect (at least not then) how the fuck do you think he would react? He just got sucker punched with that surprise confession, like getting smacked back into reality.

Kodaka NEEDS to change, I'm not denying that what he is doing is wrong, but all I'm saying is that it is far more understandable then what Yozora does. Yozora hates others who make a move on Kodaka, uses underhanded methods to get in the way, bullies Sena since she has the best chances, among many other things ALL THE WHILE not doing shit on her own. Name one freaken thing Yozora has accomplished toward her goal from volume 1, name one freaken thing. Rika has shown to understood Kodaka the best and will likely be his first "friend" by volume end, Yukimura has slowly started the accept the gender change and slowly relies on the "butler/maid" thing to get closer to Kodaka, Kate even has a better relationship with her sister after seeing Kodaka with his. Yozora on the other hand has fallen again and again, you think Kodaka is a coward what about Yozora then? Kodaka i guarantee will get over this in two chapters or so, how fucking long do you think it will take for Yozora to do anything? That's your difference faggot. Sena in this standard is above both of them, since she doesn't hesitate, she gets shy like anybody would but at least she still said what needed to be said.

Also you said give her a response? you really are a moron, why would he give her a half ass response when his head ain't straight, to give a response now would be asinine and spitting on her sincerity. Kodaka needs to clear his head first and then give her a proper answer, not rush things simply to satisfly morons like you.

      Delete
    4. I want to facepalm at this moment. A response doesn't mean "yes" or "no". It could also mean "I'll get back to you on this" or something like "Give me some time to think". Anything would be better than just outright ignoring the entire issue.

And please stop trying to pass off Sena's low points as something positive.

      Delete
    5. I don't think anyone would like to discuss with you, as you keep calling people morons and faggots.
You will probably think: "Yeah right, they don't have any arguments." And I would say: "Whatever dude, I really don't care what you may think, you have already disgraced yourself by including insults in a discussion".

      Delete
    6. This novel is not about "making progress".

Making progress =/= Getting into a relationship.

Watch stuff like Pokemon or Digimon for that, where every character needs to get past the hurdles in life a become a perfect existence, worthy of society.

But, even so, if you want progress then Yozora is doing that already, but you just choose to ignore every positive thing related to her. Your hate for her makes you blind to everything good she has to offer.

There have been specific examples in the past release pages that you chose to disregard, so I won't bother quoting any. I don't have that kind of time to waste on something that I know is useless.

Yozora is the main girl. Romantic progress for the main girl always comes late, after all the other rivals. You'll just need to wait for that. If you don't see it coming, then... you need to watch more stuff of this genre.

From whatever viewpoint, Kodaka needed only to say a couple of words to not make himself look like a coward. It does not need a clear state of mind for that. Enough time had passed for him to form some sort of a response. But at any rate, Kodaka was never a perfect protagonist to begin with.

      Delete
    7. Perfect huh...sadly someone doesn't know what the word means if you seriously think such a character exist. If you care to say that was a manner of speech then i guess i should disregard half the crap you said as a attempt to belittle that Sena fan.

  21. I check this site every day, and this morning 10 minutes before work, I realize a new chapter was up. I scrambled to read it and at the same time savor every word. I find myself fanatical about this series unlike I have been about any other in quite some time. Needless to say I didn't wanna spoil the big surprise at the end so I saved it for after work as a reward for a hard days work. Thank you so much Vexed. If you've ever loved any one series more than even you thought you should, let it be known your translations are that gift to me. Thank you!

As for the chapter... I've read it like 4-5 times over now... It gave me goosebumps. I can only speculate that the anime has 3-4 more episodes left, and since they are nearing the end of Vol.7 then they might be able to cover all or most of 8, which means I may be finding out the speedy version of how this volume ends first. I enjoy both, but the books give me so much more. Either way I cannot wait to see how he deals with this "crises".

  22. I would like to make a call to all Yozora's fans. Please, stop trying to argue with this guy who keeps saying "moron, faggot". I know most of you don't care and don't make any comments. But the ones who do, stop feeding the troll. Stop caring for what some haters may say. Is anyone with me?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. He and others may use vulgarity for their opinions, but that doesn't change the fact that people deny what they don't like to hear by nitpicking the details. So no I'm not with you. I rather respond without vulgarity because conversation is reached from differing opinions to begin with, that doesn't mean somebody is a troll, it just means they don't portray their opinion with maturity. Even immature opinions can hold relevance, after all maturity itself is subjective to how you view it, and your denial of many opinions is immaturity in itself, since i doubt it's just one guy who has used vulgar terms when bashing Yozora.

      Delete
    2. Another thing, Sena fans have been given poor light to the immature viewpoints of some, but you shouldn't group together all those who like Sena as immature people how can conduct civil speech. Plenty of people like Sena and plenty of people can objectively state their reasoning for doing so. So instead of denying others like you attempt to do so, how about this instead. Show your maturity by actually answering some of the points made, if you read over all the comments by those who ship Sena and deny them all that just shows your narrow minded and frankly i pity people who can't see past their own egos. If you take that as insulting then i guess i hit the nail on the head.

      Delete
    3. Now now, kids. Let's keep the personal insults to a minimum :)

It's true that arguing with a person who disregards every opinion other than his own while bashing Yozora and her supporters is a futile act in itself. The manner of speech doesn't help either. BUT. But there are some things that just need to be put out there. And I see that, to an extent, it has already been done up there. Does it not evoke the need to get your word in when your favourite character, or a character that you like is being unreasonably bashed?
At any rate, a civil discussion would be ideal, but I guess in such cases it usually is too much to hope for. Besides, there are no visible parties siding with Sena that show any interest to partake in such a discussion.

  24. Good job, Sena!

Well, now, there are advantages and disadvantages to this situation.

Kodaka clearly loses the carefully-built equilibrium, especially given the fact that most members of the Neighbours Club seemed to treat him more like a love interest than a friend by this point.

However, this also removes the stagnation of them being "friends that are not friends" and it allows them to finally start bonding out in the open, not to mention should actually be a boost to Kodaka's confidence; there's a person in love with him! (and a hella attractive person at that).

Of course, Yozora will also need to have her moment and who knows how this will end, but, being a Sena fan, I quietly yet strongly root for her.

  26. Before entering in this "No man's land" call the comments section, I enjoyed better the light novels. I liked both Sena and Yozora. I had, nonetheless, a preference for one over the other. However, when I began to read the comments I started to hate one of the heroines. Because I had to defend the girl I like the most against the other girl's fans, I tried to seek for all her faults. I won't blame the people who made those comments, some of which I found really annoying, for my hatred to that girl. Well, maybe it's not hate but displeasure, which I have noticed in many of the comments, both sides equally.

The other thing that bothers me are the spoilers, specially the ones in the previous release. I'm pretty sure most of you who didn't know what was coming, didn't like it either.

For those reasons, today I graduate for the comments section. My experience with LN was much better without them. Some of you may think of this is as some kind of "rage quit". But, at the end of the day, Who cares at whatever an Anon has to say?

Before I abandon this rotten world, I would like you to meditate something. Is the effort of making arguments worth it? Are your comments well receive by the other people? Should you really hate one of the characters because you like the other better?

    ReplyDelete

    1. "I started to hate one of the heroines"

      Eh? But, but:

"Should you really hate one of the characters because you like the other better?"

^ I agree with the second quoted statement, at the very least :) It is silly to hate characters in a work such as this. It's a comedy afterall. The only character I find somewhat annoying is that new one, Yusa. And even that feeling is very weak and very likely to change in the near future. I do agree, though. Reading the comments on releases can affect the views of the reader, and in some cases, dull the reading experience as far as the novel is concerned. I'm not one of those people, however. I have my own views and nothing will change them. I only participate in the comment sections for the sake of amusement. I don't take any of it seriously. The novels, the comments, none of it. So cheer up. Stick to your own beliefs. Don't let some anonymous comments change the way you see things :)

    1. Dude had to get his shit in order, he was sucker punched out of his fabricated ignorant scenario. It's like Rika said he wanted them to play roles so their "peace" could continue, but people like Sena and obviously Rika and the rest want more then the current scenario leaving Kodaka dumbfounded to the confession. Is it weakness that he ran? damn straight it is, pretty cowardly actually. Is it not believable or understandable? no it's very understandable. Kodaka will get his shit together, the last chapter is titled "The End of the Prologue/The Day Kodaka Hasegawa Became a Protagonist" After all.

About the chapter itself, I have but one thing to say: nothing is true, everything is permitted. I know I'm misquoting Assassin's Creed here, but it's the only way to best describe this situation. In this case it means: everything that happened before is now irrelevant, things will irremediably change, and everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) can happen from now on.
In short, shit hit the fan. Hard.

    1. Well it's understandable all things considering, Yusa's two visits could take up an entire episode if Rika getting sick is used as the intro. Sena's confession could be used to end the episode then Kodaka getting over his fears with Rika's help could be used for the finale as it ends volume 8.
