So here's that surprise I briefly mentioned before. I couldn't find it anywhere and couldn't find anyone else who was able to, so here you go. For those of you not in the know, this is part 1 of a trilogy of doujin games released written by Spice and Wolf's author, Isuna Hasekura that was released last Comiket (C80).It's fairly short, but I liked it, and it's one of the few VN's that's in widescreen format. Just to note: this is simply the raw game, it is not in English (yet). I may do it in the future, but for now those who can hack their way through moonrunes can enjoy it by following the links below:

Explains a lot that I do not want to repeat what Vexed said. I loved the widescreen format. The save function allows up to 30 slots, however given the length of this VN its unnecessary.
2)Nothing is voiced so the story made absolutely no sense to me (sadly). I can usually get by with just voices. I liked S&W so I can expect great things from the story / characters / character development.
3) The CG is great. One can tell just by looking at the cover Vexed posted above. TBH, I liked the background images more than the character designs. >_>
4) Music/sounds: Eh, leave that for your own thoughts.
5) The biggest con would be this is a trilogy, and I hate cliff hangers. t_t
For those who are wondering, there is no ero. It's an all-ages VN. Seeing this pop up (as this is my homepage) was interesting.

Same here I get a Syntax error. I believe the game is region protected so it only allows you to play if your computer is set to Japans region. Thats my take on why the error is there.

ReplyDeleteYou don't need your OS to be in Japanese, though you might need it set to Japanese locale or to use something like AppLocale. Can't really tell you anything more than that without screenshots of the problem or anything.

Problem: syntax error
Deductions: Your OS does not recognize Unicode format (which usually gives you boxes or question marks e.g. "?????" or "[][][]" therefore, syntax error)
Easy solution: OS in Japanese
If not..
[short tutorial]: Change your locale (I assume to be in English) from English > Japanese
[long tutorial]: Control Panel > Clock, Language, and Region > Region and Language > Administrative > Change System Locale > Japanese (Japan) > OK > Restart CPU
[DO NOT]: Mistake "change system locale" with "current location"
[What's that? Still not working?]: Delete the file you extracted while you were still in in English locale. Now, extract the .rar/.zip again. You should notice an obvious difference. If not, you have something else going on.
I use windows 7, and generally all windows should have similar setups.
Got it to work. Now if only I understood Japanese... I really really wish there was a translated version T.T
